STAR recognizes the special rehabilitation needs of the cancer patient. We have developed a specialized program to help address the varied and unique physical disabilities that may arise from the treatment of cancer. Our focus is on bridging the gap between these possible physical disabilities to the quality of life you desire. It is our ambition to provide quality health care to our patients in a relaxed, friendly environment, with an emphasis being placed on each patient's needs.
Physical impairments which decrease quality of life can be addressed through:
- Preventive measures through patient education and readiness before surgery
- Restorative measures, which reverse physical disabilities and impairments
- Supportive measures that reduce and improve dysfunction, with the knowledge that ongoing disease prevents total resolution
- Palliative measures that provides comfort, safety and progression
 The Treatment Process
Each patient will undergo a thorough physical evaluation by a licensed physical therapist. This will include examination of the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system and nervous system. From this data, goals
will be established, a treatment program will be designed and the frequency
/ duration of physical therapy will be determined based on the patient's
specific needs. Treatment may center around low impact cardiovascular
exercises, strength training, range of motion and stretching activities,
balance enhancement and task-specific training. Physical therapy will
continue as needed and as personal independence is gained, the patient
will progress from a supervised rehabilitation environment to a personal
home exercise program.

- Promote independence during the rehabilitation process
- Enhance the quality of life for each of our patients
